Hatchful / Shopify Logo Maker Platform Help
Hatchful is Shopify's free logo maker — now branded Shopify Logo Maker and living at
shopify.com/tools/logo-maker (the old standalone hatchful.shopify.com domain and the Hatchful mobile
app were retired in 2025; the tool and this guide are the same thing). Unlike the "enter name + industry →
AI proposes concepts" peers, it's a template picker: you answer industry + style + name, it surfaces
pre-built logo templates (13,000+ combinations), and you tweak the name, slogan, font, color, symbol, and
layout in-browser. It's the branding/logo step for Shopify store owners, solo founders, and bootstrapped
makers who've locked a name and want a free logo fast for digital/social use. Its two defining facts and
the reason to reach for it — or not: (1) it's genuinely free (no watermark, no paid tier; only an email or
Shopify account is needed to download), and (2) the download is PNG-only — there is NO vector (SVG/EPS/PDF),
which is the single biggest limitation vs the paid peers (Mojomox / Logomaster / Logomakerr / LogoAI / Zoviz
/ Brandmark / Looka). It is UI-only — there is NO public API (see Step 4).
Step 1 — Gather context
If references/learnings.md exists, read it first for accumulated platform knowledge.
Ask only what you can't infer:
What do you want from Hatchful?
A) Make/customize a logo (industry, style, fonts, symbols, colors, layout)
B) Understand the download — is it free, what's in the zip, why no SVG/vector
C) You need a vector / print-scalable logo and want to know if Hatchful can do it (it can't — see Step 4)
D) Integrate or automate ("API" / bulk generation — see Step 4)
E) Use the logo on a Shopify store (brand assets)
What will the logo be used for — digital/social, or print/large-format? This is the decisive question:
Hatchful's PNG-only output is fine for web/social but wrong for print or scaling (see Step 3/4).
Skip-ahead: a name (not a logo) → /sales-namelix; the validate-before-building method or a branding-tool
comparison → /sales-idea-validation; wider social/marketing creative → /sales-canva — route in Step 2.
Step 2 — Route or answer directly
If the user's question is about…
Route to
Generating the business name itself (not the logo)
/sales-namelix {question}
The validate-before-building method, or comparing branding/logo tools across the market
/sales-idea-validation {question}
Needing vector / print-scalable output (a paid peer that exports SVG)
/sales-mojomox {question} or /sales-logoai {question}
Building the wider social/marketing creative or a design system at scale
/sales-canva {question}
Setting up the Shopify store itself (theme, products, checkout)
/sales-shopify {question}
When routing, give the exact command: "This is a {domain} question — run: /sales-namelix {original question}"
Otherwise, answer Hatchful-specific questions using Step 3.
Step 3 — Hatchful platform reference
Read references/platform-guide.md for the full reference — the pick-template → customize → email-download
workflow and every module's automation tag; exactly what the download zip contains (standard + transparent
PNG, favicon, horizontal/vertical layouts, and pre-sized social assets for Facebook / Instagram / LinkedIn /
Pinterest / X / YouTube); the free-with-email boundary (no watermark, no paid tier, but a valid email or
Shopify account is required to receive the files); the PNG-only / no-vector limitation and what to do when
you need SVG (use a paid peer, or vectorize the PNG with the quality caveat); the can't-import-your-own-art
constraint; how a logo flows into Shopify store brand assets; the commercial-ownership terms and their
trademark limits; and the no-public-API reality (why logo generation can't be scripted and what to use
instead).
Answer using only the relevant section — don't dump the full reference.
Step 4 — Actionable guidance
It's genuinely free — but downloading needs an email (or Shopify account). Making and customizing a logo
is free with no watermark and no paid tier; the only gate is that the finished assets are delivered as a
zip to your email (you may be prompted to start a Shopify free trial / create an account at this step). Set
that expectation up front: free to make, free to download, email required to receive the files. Flag these
details as best-effort and tell the user to confirm current behavior at shopify.com/tools/logo-maker —
Shopify updates the tool periodically.
The output is PNG-only — there is NO vector (SVG/EPS/PDF). Flag this before anyone commits. The download
is raster PNG at fixed sizes. That's fine for a website, social profiles, and a favicon, but it will
pixelate when enlarged and is the wrong tool for print, signage, apparel, or packaging. If the user
needs a scalable vector logo, don't try to force it out of Hatchful — either (a) build it on a paid peer
that exports SVG (/sales-mojomox, /sales-logoai, /sales-logomaster, /sales-zoviz, /sales-brandmark),
or (b) vectorize the PNG by tracing it to SVG (Illustrator Image Trace / Inkscape / a tracing tool),
warning that auto-trace of a raster logo is lossy and rarely production-clean. Prefer (a) when print
fidelity matters.
Know what's in the zip so users aren't surprised. The download bundles the logo in standard + transparent-background PNG, a favicon, horizontal and vertical layouts, and pre-sized social-media assets
(Facebook covers + profile, Instagram profile, LinkedIn banners + profile, Pinterest, X/Twitter headers,
YouTube profile). It does not include business cards, email signatures, or other print collateral.
You can't upload or import your own images/art into the editor. Hatchful builds only from its own template
symbols and fonts — there's no way to bring in an existing icon, hand-drawn mark, or brand asset. If the user
has existing artwork to incorporate, this is the wrong tool.
Lock the name (and validate the idea) before you make a logo. A logo is downstream: validate demand first
(/sales-idea-validation), settle the name (/sales-namelix), then make the logo — never brand a name you
might still change. Because Hatchful is free, it's a low-cost first pass, but the sequence still holds.
The logo is yours to use commercially, but ownership ≠ a registered trademark — do your own clearance.
Shopify grants commercial use of the created logo, but a mark built from a shared template/symbol library
can be non-distinctive, and thousands of other Shopify stores use the same templates. Tell users to run a
USPTO/EUIPO search + distinctiveness check before relying on the mark legally, and treat a Hatchful logo
as a fast placeholder they may later upgrade to a custom/vector mark.
There is NO public API — don't plan a pipeline around it. If asked to "use the Hatchful API" or generate
logos in bulk from a script, be precise: it's entirely a human-in-the-loop UI tool — no REST endpoints,
no webhooks, no Zapier/Make, no MCP, and the retired mobile app doesn't change that. Its only "integration"
is that a finished logo can be uploaded into Shopify store brand assets — file usage, not automation. For
programmatic logo/image generation at volume, use an image-generation service with a documented API.
If you discover a gotcha or tip not in references/learnings.md, append it there with today's date.
Gotchas
Best-effort from research (2026-07) — features, tiers, and terms move; verify at shopify.com/tools/logo-maker.
Hatchful = Shopify Logo Maker now. The standalone hatchful.shopify.com domain and the Hatchful mobile
app (last updated Sept 2023) were retired in 2025; the tool now lives at shopify.com/tools/logo-maker.
Same product — don't send users to the dead domain or app store listing.
It's free with no watermark — the gate is an email, not a paywall. No paid tier; downloading just requires
a valid email (or a Shopify account/free-trial prompt) to receive the zip.
PNG-only — there is NO vector (SVG/EPS/PDF). The biggest limitation. Fine for web/social; it pixelates
when scaled and is wrong for print/large-format. Need vector → use a paid peer (Mojomox/LogoAI/etc.) or
vectorize the PNG (lossy). One review wrongly claims SVG export — hands-on testing confirms PNG only.
You can't import your own images/logos/art into the editor — it builds only from Hatchful's templates.
Templates are shared — the logo may not be distinctive. The same templates are used by thousands of stores;
ownership of the logo ≠ a registered trademark. Run your own USPTO/EUIPO clearance before trademarking.
There is NO public API, webhooks, Zapier/Make, or MCP. UI-only; logo generation can't be scripted. The
only "integration" is uploading the finished logo into Shopify store brand assets (file usage, not automation).
The zip doesn't include print collateral. You get logo PNGs + favicon + social sizes — no business cards,
email signatures, or brand-guideline docs (those are on the paid peers).

Examples
Example 1: "Is Hatchful really free, and what do I actually get?"
User says: "I need a logo for my new Shopify store and I heard Hatchful is free. Is it really free, and what files do I get?"
Skill does: Confirms it's genuinely free — no watermark, no paid tier — with the only gate being that the
finished logo is emailed as a zip (may prompt a Shopify account/free trial to download). Lists what's in the
zip (standard + transparent PNG, favicon, horizontal/vertical layouts, pre-sized social assets for
FB/IG/LinkedIn/Pinterest/X/YouTube), and flags up front that it's PNG-only — no SVG/vector — great for
web/social, wrong for print. Notes Hatchful now lives at shopify.com/tools/logo-maker.
Result: The founder makes a free logo and knows exactly what they're getting (and its limits) before starting.
Example 2: "I need a vector version of my Hatchful logo for print" (limitation)
User says: "I made my logo in Hatchful but my printer needs a vector SVG for signage. How do I export vector from Hatchful?"
Skill does: States plainly that Hatchful is PNG-only — it cannot export SVG/EPS/PDF vector at all. Gives
the two real paths: (a) re-make the logo on a paid peer that exports vector (/sales-mojomox, /sales-logoai,
/sales-logomaster, /sales-zoviz, /sales-brandmark) — best for print fidelity; or (b) vectorize the PNG
by tracing it to SVG (Illustrator Image Trace / Inkscape), warning that auto-tracing a raster logo is lossy and
rarely production-clean. Recommends (a) for anything going to print/signage.
Result: The user stops hunting for a nonexistent SVG export and picks a workable path to a scalable logo.
Example 3: "Can I use the Hatchful API to generate logos in bulk?" (developer/automation)
User says: "How do I use the Hatchful API to auto-generate logos for 100 store brands from a script?"
Skill does: States that Hatchful has no public API — it's entirely a UI tool with no REST
endpoints, webhooks, Zapier/Make, or MCP (and the retired mobile app doesn't change that) — so logo generation
cannot be scripted. Clarifies the only "integration" is uploading a finished logo into Shopify store brand
assets (file usage, not automation), and suggests an image-generation service with a documented API for
programmatic logo generation at volume. Does not invent endpoints.
Result: The user avoids building on a nonexistent API and picks a workable path.
Troubleshooting
"Why is it asking for my email — I thought Hatchful was free?"
Symptom: Making the logo was free, but downloading asks for an email or a Shopify account.
Cause: Hatchful is free (no watermark, no paid tier); the finished assets are just delivered as a zip
to your email, and you may be prompted to start a Shopify free trial / create an account at that step.
Solution: Enter a valid email to receive the zip. There's no charge — confirm current behavior at
shopify.com/tools/logo-maker.
"There's no SVG in my download — where's the vector file?"
Symptom: The zip only contains PNG files; no SVG/EPS/PDF.
Cause: Hatchful is PNG-only by design — it does not export vector at all. The PNGs are raster at fixed
sizes and will pixelate when enlarged.
Solution: For a scalable vector logo, re-make it on a paid peer that exports SVG (Mojomox/LogoAI/etc.),
or vectorize the PNG by tracing it to SVG (lossy — rarely production-clean). Use a paid peer if it's going to
print or large-format.
"Is there an API to generate logos in bulk?"
Symptom: Can't find API docs to script logo creation.
Cause: Hatchful is UI-only — there are no REST endpoints, webhooks, Zapier/Make, or MCP, and the
mobile app was retired. The only "integration" is uploading a finished logo into Shopify store brand assets.
Solution: Don't build a bulk-generation pipeline on it. For programmatic logo/image generation, use an
image-generation service with a documented API. Reserve Hatchful for interactive, one-off free logos.
