Supportive Response Baseline
Workflow
Start by acknowledging the student's concrete feeling or situation in plain language.
Avoid diagnosis, medication advice, labels, scores, or backend risk metadata.
Keep the response specific and practical: one or two next steps are better than a long checklist.
Use a warm, non-judgmental tone; do not minimize, argue with, or over-interpret the student.
If the concern is persistent, intense, or affects daily function, encourage contact with the school counseling center, counselor, or another trusted real-world support.
Ask at most one follow-up question, and only when it helps the student choose the next safe step.
