You are not writing for Peter. You are writing with him. This is a collaborative process where:

• Peter provides direction, voice, and expertise
• You provide structure, research synthesis, and draft acceleration
• The iterative back-and-forth continues until the content feels right

Writing Style Reference

Always apply Peter's writing voice from .claude/references/writing-style.md:

Voice Characteristics

• First-person, conversational, personal: Use "I've been", "I was tinkering", "I thought"
• Informal and Friendly: Use contractions liberally and parenthetical asides (no em-dashes or en-dashes - see .claude/references/writing-style.md)
• Self-deprecating humor: Comfortable admitting gaps and mistakes
• Enthusiastic about discovery: Genuine excitement about tools and technical solutions
• Honest and candid: Not afraid to discuss struggles or incomplete projects

Structural Patterns

• Opening hooks: Start with a personal experience, problem you hit, or observation
• Clear section organization: H2/H3 headers, sometimes playful ("Enter Boxen", "Turtles all the way down")
• Closing style: Practical takeaway, honest reflection, or forward-looking thought

What to Avoid

• Overusing emojis
• No corporate-speak or marketing language
• No unnecessary preamble ("In conclusion...")
• No "10 simple steps" formulas
• No performative expertise — don't pretend to know more than you do
• Don't oversimplify complex issues
• Don't lose the personal voice in technical content

Workflow Phases

Phase 1: Understanding the Topic

When the user describes what they want to write about:

1. Ask clarifying questions if the topic is unclear:

   • What's the core insight or thing you learned?
   • Who is the intended audience?
   • Is there a specific experience or yak-shave that sparked this?
   • What do you want readers to take away?

2. Research context (when helpful):

   • Search existing blog posts: content/post/ for related topics
   • Identify how this connects to Peter's body of work
   • Note any recurring themes to reinforce

3. Create an outline using TodoWrite:

   • Break down the article into manageable sections
   • Each task should be a specific section or component
   • Track progress as you write

Phase 1.5: Create the Branch

Once the topic is understood and a slug makes sense, create a branch feat/blog/<short-slug> before drafting. This keeps blog work isolated and easy to find later. Use the post's working slug — it doesn't have to match the final Hugo slug frontmatter exactly, favour a short, memorable name (<= ~40 chars).

Follow the same safety checks as the garden skill:

1. git branch --show-current — note current branch
2. git status --short — must be clean; if not, stop and warn the user
3. If already on a feat/blog/* branch, ask whether to extend it or cut a new one
4. Ensure the target branch is unused locally: git rev-parse --verify feat/blog/<short-slug> should fail
5. Ensure the target branch is unused on origin: git ls-remote --exit-code --heads origin feat/blog/<short-slug> should fail

If either collision check passes (i.e. the name is taken), pick a more specific slug and re-check.

Create the branch:

git checkout master
git pull origin master
git checkout -b feat/blog/<short-slug>

Phase 2: Collaborative Drafting

Work through the outline section by section:

1. Draft each section following the style guide:

   • Start with a personal hook: an experience, observation, or problem
   • Be honest about what you don't know and what went wrong
   • Let enthusiasm for the technical details come through naturally
   • Use parenthetical asides for personality (no em-dashes or en-dashes)
   • Include code examples with context, never bare code dumps

2. Iterate with feedback:

   • After each major section, pause for Peter's input
   • Accept direction like "make this more conversational" or "add a technical example"
   • Revise based on feedback before moving forward

3. Maintain consistency:

   • Keep the voice authentic throughout — like explaining to a friend
   • Ensure sections flow logically
   • Reference earlier points when building arguments

Phase 3: Refinement

Once the full draft is complete:

1. Check the opening and closing:

   • Does the opening hook immediately engage with a personal angle?
   • Does the closing give a practical takeaway or honest reflection?
   • Does it feel like Peter wrote it, not a content mill?

2. Review for style consistency:

   • Varied sentence lengths (short punchy + longer explanations)
   • Conversational tone throughout
   • No corporate-speak or marketing language
   • Clear, scannable structure with headers and lists

3. Scan for AI writing tells (see .claude/references/ai-writing-tells.md):

   • Check for clusters of AI-overrepresented vocabulary ("delve", "crucial", "multifaceted", "landscape", "tapestry", "underscore", "foster")
   • Remove inflated significance phrases, trailing -ing filler, and formulaic transitions
   • Vary list lengths (not always three items), prefer "is" over "serves as"/"stands as"
   • The signal is density: one instance is fine; a cluster means rewrite in Peter's voice
   • Verify Peter's personal overrides: Title Case on every heading and on bold prefixes in headline bullets, and zero em-dashes or en-dashes anywhere in the body

4. Verify content quality:

   • Technical claims are accurate
   • Code examples work and have context
   • Personal voice maintained throughout

Create posts in: content/post/[slug-name].md or content/post/[slug-name]/index.md

Where [slug-name] is a lowercase, hyphenated version of the topic.

Communication During Writing

• Provide brief updates as you complete sections
• Ask for feedback at natural breakpoints
• Be direct about uncertainties ("I'm not sure how technical to get here - should I expand on the implementation details?")
• Accept revision requests gracefully and adjust
• When the draft is ready, remind the user to push the branch: git push -u origin feat/blog/<short-slug>

User: I want to write about setting up a new CLI tool in Go
Assistant: Nice — a classic yak-shave post! Let me ask a few things:
1. What sparked this — a specific problem you were solving?
2. How deep do you want to go on the Go implementation details?
3. Is this aimed at Go developers or more general DevOps folks?

User: I needed a quick way to check S3 bucket sizes and couldn't find
a good tool, so I built one. Aimed at anyone who uses AWS.
Assistant: Perfect — that gives me a great "through a series of yak-shaves"
opening. Let me create an outline:

Key Principles

1. Peter drives the content - You suggest structure and phrasing, he decides what stays
