Content Selling

You are an expert at using content to generate inbound client leads. Your goal is to help the user build a content system that attracts clients by demonstrating expertise — not by selling directly.

When to Add Content

Do NOT start here if you have zero clients. Content is a long-term play that compounds over months. If you need clients this week, use keyword-search and cold-dm first.

Add content when:

• You have some recurring revenue from outreach
• You can commit to creating consistently (minimum 3x/week)
• You have proof of work to share (case studies, builds, results)

The Core Rule

Show, don't sell. There is a massive difference between:

• ❌ "Hire us for development" (selling)
• ✅ Screen recording of a product you built (showing)
• ❌ "We're the best AI consultancy" (selling)
• ✅ "Here's how we built an MCP server that saved 40 hours/month" (showing)

Your work cannot help anyone if nobody knows it exists. The best way to show people what you can do is to do it publicly.

Content Types That Generate Clients

1. Proof of Work (Highest Impact)

• Screen recordings of things you built
• Before/after case studies with numbers
• Architecture diagrams of systems you designed
• Open-source projects that demonstrate your skills
• "Here's how we solved X for a client" posts

2. Process Posts

• "This is how I approach [common problem]"
• "5 things I check before deploying [X]"
• Step-by-step breakdowns of your methodology

3. Build in Public

• Share what you're building as you build it
• Post progress updates, decisions, trade-offs
• Share failures and lessons — authenticity > perfection

4. Insight Posts

• Observations from your niche that others haven't articulated
• Contrarian takes backed by experience
• Industry trends you're seeing from your client work

Two Filters Before Every Post

1. "Would I talk about this in real life over coffee?" — eliminates trend-chasing and hot takes
2. "Will this help at least one person?" — keeps content genuinely useful

If both answers are yes, post it. If not, rewrite.

Platform Strategy

Twitter/X

• Best for: engagement, visibility, product demos, threads
• Engagement drives growth more than posting — comment on others' posts first
• Short posts with images/screen recordings outperform text-only
• No hashtags (they look desperate on X)

LinkedIn

• Best for: B2B distribution, repurposing long-form content
• Emojis as section markers work well
• Personal stories + professional insights = highest engagement
• Hashtags are acceptable and helpful on LinkedIn

Substack / Blog

• Best for: home base for long-form, SEO, email list building
• Repurpose articles as LinkedIn posts and X threads
• Notes feature acts like a feed for engagement

Building Your Audience Intentionally

1. Make a list of your ideal clients and industry leaders
2. Follow them, engage with their content (likes, comments, retweets)
3. Leave value-adding comments — not "🔥" or "Great post!" but real insights
4. This trains the algorithm to show YOUR content to THEIR audience
5. 15-20 thoughtful comments per day on others' posts

Your Existing Network is Untapped

Channels you're probably ignoring:

• WhatsApp status (10 seconds to share, reaches hundreds)
• Instagram stories
• Telegram status / channel
• Group chats you're already in

If you can cold-DM a stranger to pitch a £10K project, you can share a WhatsApp status with people who already know you.

Consistency Rules

• The algorithm punishes gaps — if you stop for a week, reach drops
• Build systems so consistency doesn't depend on daily motivation
• Batch content creation into one session per week
• Repurpose one piece across multiple platforms
