# LLM Knowledge Base Skill
An installable agent skill that turns Andrej Karpathy's LLM Wiki pattern into a safe, repeatable setup workflow.
The skill creates three layers:
- `raw/` for source material that the agent should not rewrite
- `wiki/` for linked, agent-maintained synthesis
- `outputs/` for reports and analyses
It supports Codex, Claude Code, Obsidian, and other file-capable agents without requiring a database or plugin stack.
## What's in this repository
- [`llm-knowledge-base/SKILL.md`](llm-knowledge-base/SKILL.md) is the editable skill source.
- [`llm-knowledge-base/assets/agent-guidelines-template.md`](llm-knowledge-base/assets/agent-guidelines-template.md) becomes the knowledge base's `AGENTS.md`, `CLAUDE.md`, or equivalent instruction file.
- [`llm-knowledge-base.skill`](llm-knowledge-base.skill) is the installable package.
- [`llm-wiki.md`](llm-wiki.md) is an exact copy of Karpathy's original idea file, included for reference and attribution.
## Install
Download `llm-knowledge-base.skill` and import it into a client that supports skill packages. You can also copy the `llm-knowledge-base/` directory into your agent's skills directory.
Example prompt:
```text
Use the LLM Knowledge Base skill to set up a local research wiki for AI infrastructure and agent tooling.
```
The skill will confirm the location, domains, existing content, and agent type before it writes files.
## Build and verify
```sh
./build.sh
./scripts/validate_skill.py
./scripts/verify-package.sh
```
The build is deterministic. Verification checks that the committed package exactly matches the editable source folder.
## Attribution
The underlying LLM Wiki pattern and the included [`llm-wiki.md`](llm-wiki.md) are by [Andrej Karpathy](https://gist.github.com/karpathy/442a6bf555914893e9891c11519de94f). His idea file says it is designed to be copied into an LLM agent so the agent can build out a specific implementation with the user.
The `SKILL.md`, template, packaging, and safety workflow in this repository are this project's implementation of that pattern. No separate repository-wide license is declared.
