• commiat _ _ — Generate AI commit message for current git changes (passthrough)

Usage Examples

Installation

npm install -g commiat

Workflow

1. Stage your changes: git add .
2. Run commiat: commiat
3. Review the generated commit message
4. Commit if satisfied, or edit and commit manually

Troubleshooting

• "command not found" — Ensure commiat is installed globally: npm install -g commiat
• "API key not configured" — Set COMMIAT_OPENROUTER_API_KEY in your environment or run commiat interactively
• No staged changes detected — Run git add first, or use --unstaged for unstaged changes
• LLM returns errors — Check your API key validity and model availability; errors are logged to ~/.commiat/error.log
• Unexpected behavior — Run with --dry-run first to preview the generated message without committing
