# Agent skills for Metabase A collection of agent skills for working with your Metabase. These skills are built for Claude Code but may also work with other AI coding agents (Cursor, Windsurf, etc.). They help perform complex Metabase embedding migrations and upgrades, explore data models, and create Metabase content automatically. ## Installation Install all skills at once: ```sh npx skills add metabase/agent-skills -a claude-code ``` Or install a specific skill: ```sh npx skills add metabase/agent-skills --skill metabase-modular-embedding-version-upgrade -a claude-code ``` ## Skills Always review and validate the changes made by a skill. Depending on your application's complexity, a skill may not work properly in all cases. Check that your application builds, tests pass, and the embedding works as expected before committing. ### AI governance checklist [ai-governance-checklist](./skills/ai-governance-checklist/SKILL.md) A task-completion coach for rolling out AI analytics without giving up control — who can use Metabot, what it can see, how much it costs, where the model runs, and the audit trail — adapted to whether you're an admin and what plan you're on. ### AI readiness checklist [ai-readiness-checklist](./skills/ai-readiness-checklist/SKILL.md) A task-completion coach for getting Metabase data ready for Metabot and the Metabase MCP server — modeling, context, metrics, canonical sources, verification, and turning AI on everywhere — adapted to whether you're an admin and what plan you're on. ### CLI [metabase-cli](./skills/metabase-cli/SKILL.md) Drives a Metabase instance from the terminal via the official `mb` CLI — every Metabase resource through one command surface. This skill is a thin discovery stub; the workflow content lives in [`@metabase/cli`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@metabase/cli) and is served at runtime by `mb skills get`. Install the CLI (`npm i -g @metabase/cli`) and the skill resolves the rest. The same skill is also available as a Claude Code plugin direct from the CLI repo (`/plugin marketplace add metabase/mb-cli` + `/plugin install metabase-cli@metabase`); one install path is enough. ### Data engineering router [metabase-rde](./skills/metabase-rde/v1/SKILL.md) An expert data-engineering workflow with Metabase at the center of whatever stack a company runs: explore and profile raw warehouse tables, build clean layered tables as Metabase transforms, build the semantic layer (models, metrics, measures, segments, metadata), design dashboards, answer questions with checked numbers, and reconcile results against a reference. A router loads one playbook and the few reference files a job needs; a data app goes through its `references/data-apps.md`, which limits what the app reads to the Library and, in staging, ships it through remote sync, then hands the build to the `mb` CLI's data-app skills. Requires the `mb` CLI (`npm i -g @metabase/cli`); it loads the CLI's bundled skills for every Metabase mechanic, data apps included. ### Database metadata [metabase-database-metadata](./skills/metabase-database-metadata/SKILL.md) Retrieves and caches database metadata (databases, tables, fields, field values) from a Metabase instance for understanding the data model.
