3. A fiber link's loss budget is cumulative arithmetic (fiber attenuation per km, plus a fixed loss per connector and per splice), not a distance rule of thumb. A link can be well under its "max distance" spec sheet number and still fail if too many connectors or splices were added along the physical path — the budget has to be computed per link, not assumed from cable length alone.
4. PBX/VoIP trunk group capacity is bounded by concurrent-call count at the busy hour, not by user headcount. Sizing trunks to a fixed ratio of extensions produces busy-signal congestion at peak if the actual concurrent-call rate is higher than assumed — traffic has to be measured or modeled, not inferred from seat count.
