Match Matrix
Purpose
Systematically connects customer Pains and Gains (from prior customer research) to concrete Solution Levers. Each lever is evaluated for its value contribution, prioritized as Important or Insignificant, and clustered into Essentials (must-solve) vs. Nice-to-Haves. This ensures the value proposition is grounded in real customer needs and ruthlessly focused.

Interview Approach
Work through the matrix systematically, one pain/gain at a time. Use a divergent-to-convergent approach: first generate all possible solution levers, then ruthlessly prioritize. Challenge any solution lever that lacks a clear link to a customer pain or gain.

Review and confirm the prioritized Pains from prior customer research:

- List all identified customer Gains

(3/5) Solution Levers (Pain Relievers & Gain Creators)
For each Pain and Gain, identify a Solution Lever:
- Pain Relievers: What mechanism, feature, or capability addresses this pain? How does it reduce or eliminate the pain?
- Gain Creators: What mechanism enables or amplifies this gain? How does it create additional value?
- For each lever: What is the measurable value it delivers? (time saved, cost reduced, risk mitigated, revenue increased)

For each Solution Lever, assess:
- Importance: Is this Important (core to value proposition) or Insignificant (marginal impact)?
- Feasibility: Can we realistically deliver this? (technical readiness, resource availability)
- Differentiation: Does this set us apart from alternatives?
- Apply ruthless feature elimination: Any lever without a clear customer link is removed.
(5/5) Clustering
Group the prioritized levers:
- Essentials (must-solve): High importance, high customer impact, must be in MVP
- Nice-to-Haves: Valuable but not critical, can be deferred to later iterations
- Identify the top 3-5 Essentials that form the backbone of the value proposition
Quality Criteria
- Every solution lever traces back to a specific Pain or Gain (no orphan features)
- Value is expressed in measurable terms (EUR, hours, percentage)
- Essentials are genuinely essential - challenge any cluster with more than 5 items
- Cross-check: Do the Essentials align with the business idea?
