Pay for a service when:

Gotchas
- Every service's comparison page ranks itself #1. Take "best of" blog posts from submission services with heavy skepticism — they're SEO content marketing, not independent reviews.
- "250+ directories" doesn't mean 250 live backlinks. Acceptance rates vary (40-70%), and Google only indexes ~24% of approved listings. A "200 submissions" service may yield 50-80 indexed backlinks.
