Alt Art and Full Art Economics
Alt Art = redesigned art for the same card; Full Art = card image fills the full surface. Both command 5-50× base premium.
Hierarchy of art treatments
From least to most premium:
- Standard art (base printing)
- Reverse Holo (foil background only)
- Full Art (artwork covers card)
- Alt Art / Special Illustration (totally different illustration)
- Rainbow Rare (color-shifted)
- Gold / Secret Rare (gold/foil treatment)
- Promotional Alt Art (event/tournament exclusive)
Pricing patterns
Pokemon Alt Art VSTAR/V cards: 5-25× base
One Piece Manga Alt Art: 30-100× base
Magic Showcase / Borderless: 1.5-3× base
Lorcana Enchanted: 10-50× base
PSA 10 multipliers on Alt Arts are even steeper because centering is fragile on alt-art borders.
Identification rule
Alt Art = same character/effect but different illustration
Full Art = same illustration but card-spanning frame
They're often confused but pricing very different — Alt Art > Full Art by 3-10×
