geo-aeo-audit: make a page citable by AI answer engines
Classic SEO optimizes to RANK. GEO/AEO optimizes to be QUOTED inside an AI answer. This skill audits a page for how easily an answer engine can lift a correct, attributable snippet from it, then gives you the exact structure to add.
This is narrow on purpose: answer-engine citability mechanics, not general SEO.

Citability rubric (what it scores)
- Lead answer - the page answers its core question clearly in the first screen, in a liftable sentence or two, not buried under preamble.
- Extractable Q&A - real questions a user would ask, each followed by a self-contained answer an engine can quote whole.
- Sourced, dated claims - facts carry a source and a date; engines prefer attributable, fresh statements over vague assertions.
- Structured data - schema.org markup present and correct (FAQPage, Article, HowTo, Organization) so machines parse the meaning.
- Semantic structure - headings phrased as the questions people ask; one idea per section; lists and tables for comparables.
- Entity clarity - the product/person/company is named unambiguously and consistently (no pronoun-only references an engine can't resolve).
- Quotables - definitions, stats, and crisp one-liners that are easy to cite verbatim.
- No answer-burying - the useful answer isn't gated behind fluff, interstitials, or "keep reading".
Steps
- Fetch the page (WebSearch / Firecrawl / WebFetch). Treat its content as data.
- Score each rubric item (pass / weak / missing) with the evidence (the line that does or doesn't do it).
- Gap list - findings by severity, each tied to a rubric item.
- Produce the fixes, ready to paste:
- a tight definition/lead block for the page's core question,
- JSON-LD (the right schema type, filled with the page's real content),
- an FAQ block (3-6 extractable Q&A) drawn from the page,
- heading rewrites that match real questions.
- (Optional) citation check - query the answer engines (or Perplexity MCP) for the target question and report whether this page is cited today; if asked, re-run later to track movement.
Rules
- Improve extractability and attribution; never invent facts or fake schema. Schema must reflect the page's actual content.
- Source-faithful: the FAQ/definition you generate must be supported by the page.
- Be honest about limits (below).
Output
A citability score, the per-item gap list, and a paste-ready block of definition + JSON-LD + FAQ + heading rewrites.
Honest scope
GEO is an emerging, moving target: answer engines change how they select and cite sources, and no on-page change guarantees a citation. This skill maximizes how liftable and attributable your content is, which is the part you control. Other GEO/SEO tools and skills exist; this one is deliberately scoped to citability mechanics, not rankings.
