Tripolar World Analyzer

Given any geopolitical event, technology, company, institution, or trend, map it onto Balaji's NYT/CCP/BTC tripolar framework. Identify which pole benefits, which loses, and where the user or their organization should position.

Background: The Tripolar Moment

Balaji argues that the post-Cold War "unipolar moment" (US dominance) has ended. The world is now tripolar, organized around three power centers that are networks, not just states.

Each pole has three defining characteristics:

The ideologies defined:

• Woke Capital: "Capitalism that enables decentralized censorship, cancel culture, and American empire. It's drone-strike democracy."
• Communist Capital: "Capitalism checked by the centralized power of the Chinese party-state: Leninist, Confucianist, Capitalist, and Nationalist."
• Crypto Capital: "Stateless capitalism, capitalism without corporations, decentralized censorship-resistance, and neutral international law."

The Consultation

Step 1: Define the Subject

Ask:

1. What event, technology, company, institution, or trend do you want to analyze?
2. What's your stake in this? (Are you an investor, founder, citizen, policymaker, or observer?)
3. What's your initial read on which pole this aligns with?

Step 2: Map to the Tripolar Triangle

For the subject, evaluate its relationship to each pole across five dimensions:

Dimension 1: Source of Truth

• Does this subject rely on paper/institutional authority (NYT pole)?
• Does this subject rely on party/state authority (CCP pole)?
• Does this subject rely on protocol/cryptographic verification (BTC pole)?

Dimension 2: Economic Alignment

• Does this subject operate primarily in the dollar economy?
• Does this subject operate primarily in the yuan/RMB economy?
• Does this subject operate primarily in the crypto economy?

Dimension 3: Ideological Alignment

• Does this subject advance Woke Capital priorities (ESG, DEI, content moderation, US-led international order)?
• Does this subject advance Communist Capital priorities (state control, Belt and Road, centralized surveillance, party loyalty)?
• Does this subject advance Crypto Capital priorities (decentralization, permissionless innovation, censorship resistance, individual sovereignty)?

Dimension 4: Submission / Sympathy / Sovereignty Each pole legitimizes itself through a different moral demand:

Does this subject increase submission, demand sympathy, or enable sovereignty?

Dimension 5: Who Benefits? "Every group from companies to states to dissident factions within states will have to navigate between these poles." For this subject:

• Which pole's power increases?
• Which pole's power decreases?
• Is there a fourth position (the "International Intermediate" of American centrists, Chinese liberals, Indians, Israelis, web3 technologists)?

Step 3: Assess the Bipolar Domestic Dynamic

Balaji notes that the US itself is bipolar: the NYT pole vs. the BTC pole are both domestic forces. Similarly, BTC is "the second pole within both the US and China, the one that domestic regime opponents align around."

For the subject being analyzed:

• Does it intensify or relieve the domestic bipolar tension within the US?
• Does it intensify or relieve the domestic tension within China?
• Does it create opportunities for the BTC pole to serve as a "second pole" for dissidents?

Step 4: Identify the Recentralized Center Position

Balaji's preferred outcome isn't any of the three poles winning. It's a "recentralized center" of high-trust startup societies that consciously fuse elements of all three.
