# Claude Code Skills Starter A curated, sanitized set of Claude Code **skills** to learn from while you get hands-on with Claude Code in your terminal. > **Almost none of this is our work.** 23 of these skills are from > [gstack](https://github.com/garrytan/gstack) by Garry Tan (MIT) and 3 are from > [cloudflare/skills](https://github.com/cloudflare/skills) (Apache-2.0). They are collected here > as a reading set, not claimed. Per-skill attribution, licenses, and which copies differ from > their upstreams are in [THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md](THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md). If you find this > useful, go star the originals; that is where the work happened. A "skill" is just a folder with a `SKILL.md` file (plus optional supporting files). The `SKILL.md` tells Claude Code how and when to do a specific job: draft a plan, review a design, build a PDF, scaffold a Cloudflare agent, and so on. Reading these is one of the fastest ways to understand how Claude Code actually works. ## What's in here 31 general-purpose skills across four themes. Open any skill folder and read its `SKILL.md`. That's the whole point, see how a good skill is written. 2. To try one in your own Claude Code session, copy the skill folder into `~/.claude/skills/` and restart Claude Code. It will show up in the skill list. 3. When you want to write your own, read `skillify` and `find-skills` first, they explain the anatomy of a skill. ## A note on scope Some skills reference tools (like a browser automation harness or specific CLIs) that you may not have installed. That's fine, you're reading them as examples of structure and prompting, not necessarily running every one. Start with `learn`, `spec`, and `review`, those work anywhere. Welcome aboard. Have fun poking around.
