Set or change THIS wiki's name + description — its identity. Use when the user runs /wiki-name, asks to "name this wiki", "rename the wiki", "set the wiki name", or wants `/wiki-ask` to know what to call this project. Writes the committed vault/.wiki-meta.json so the name travels with the clone (every teammate gets the same identity), then points at `make register` to make it queryable from anywhere.

/wiki-name — name this wiki (its portable identity)

A wiki's name is how /wiki-ask <name> <question> addresses it. This skill writes that name (and an optional description) into a small committed file, vault/.wiki-meta.json, so it travels with the clone — once you commit it, every teammate who clones this repo gets the same identity and the same /wiki-ask <name> works for them too.

This skill only writes vault/.wiki-meta.json. It does not scan, sync, or commit.

Arguments

• <name> (optional) — the short name to use (kebab-case recommended, e.g. payments, platform-infra). If absent, ask for it in step 1.
• <description> (optional, the rest of the line) — a one-line human description.

Procedure

1. Get the name

• If <name> was given, use it. Otherwise show the current identity and ask what to call it:

  This prints the current name and where it came from (meta = already set; git-remote/dir = only derived, not yet committed). Suggest a clean kebab-case name; confirm with the user.

2. Write the identity

This creates/updates vault/.wiki-meta.json (preserving any existing fields). It prints the path written and the resulting name + description.

3. Tell the user what's next

Report the new name, then the two follow-ups:

• Commit it so it travels: vault/.wiki-meta.json is part of the wiki content — commit it like any other vault file so teammates inherit the name.
• Register it on this device so /wiki-ask reaches it from anywhere:

  make register
  

  (After that: /wiki-ask <name> "<question>" works from any directory. Inside this repo, /wiki-ask "<question>" already works with no name.)

Notes

• The name is the registry/dispatch key for /wiki-ask. Keep it short, unique, kebab-case.
• Changing the name later: just re-run /wiki-name <new-name>, commit, and make register again (the old registry entry can be dropped with /wiki-ask remove <old-name>).
• This is the identity half; make register is the device-level wiring half. Both are needed for cross-directory access, but neither is needed to ask inside the repo (cwd walk-up handles that).
