Steps

Skipping the sequence (failure mode): A team documents an idealized "standard" workspace layout and cleaning schedule without first actually sorting and reorganizing the existing clutter. The documented standard bears no resemblance to the actual workspace, is ignored within weeks, and the team concludes 5S "doesn't work" — when the actual failure was skipping the sort and set-in-order steps the standardize step depends on.

Common Mistakes
