Datasheet Lookup
Get authoritative information for a part.
Inputs
Either a single part query (e.g. "BME280") or a project slug (process all parts in bom.json).
Method
- Identify the manufacturer. For modules (e.g. ESP32-WROOM-32) the module datasheet is usually most useful; for ICs go to the chip vendor.
- Fetch the official datasheet PDF when possible. Prefer manufacturer domains; avoid uncurated PDF mirrors.
- Extract and summarise:
- Pinout (with function per pin).
- Operating voltage and current draw (typ/max).
- Communication interface(s) and default address(es) for I2C parts.
- Logic-level compatibility (3.3V / 5V tolerant?).
- Notable quirks — required pull-ups, decoupling caps, boot-strap pins, reset behaviour.
Output
Write to <projects_dir>/<slug>/datasheets/<part>.md (create the directory if absent):
- Source URL.
- Date fetched.
- Extracted summary in the structure above.
- A "watch out for" section listing the quirks — this feeds
compatibility-check and generate-wiring-diagram-spec.
Cache the PDF itself under $CLAUDE_USER_DATA/hardware-spec-assembly/cache/datasheets/<part>.pdf to avoid refetching.
