# pmClaude pmClaude is an open, local-first product management workspace for Claude Code and Cursor. It packages reusable workflows for product requirements, discovery, research, roadmaps, prototypes, design handoffs, announcements, and knowledge-base publishing while keeping the source artifacts in Git. The repository is deliberately company-neutral. Start with the included defaults, then adapt the writing guide, templates, integrations, and workspace areas to your team. ## What is included - Structured PRD and product-spec workflows with decisions and acceptance criteria - Customer discovery planning, capture, debrief, and synthesis - Competitive research, market sizing, and user-research synthesis - Quarterly roadmap and QBR workflows - Rapid UI and HTML prototyping with test plans and handoff artifacts - Design specifications and native PowerPoint deck generation - Optional Jira, Confluence, Notion, and Slack workflows External services are optional. The core workflows create Markdown files locally and work without Jira, Confluence, Notion, or Slack. ## Quick start 1. Fork or clone this repository. 2. Open it in Claude Code or Cursor. 3. Customize [`context/style-guide.md`](context/style-guide.md) for your team. 4. Create a product area under `workspace/` when you begin your first project. 5. Run `/help` to see the available workflows. ```bash git clone https://github.com/thisrohangupta/pmClaude-public.git cd pmClaude claude ``` Example project layout: ```text workspace/ growth/ projects/ onboarding-redesign/ prd.md decisions.md notes.md discovery/ prototype/ specs/ roadmaps/ ``` Generated product artifacts belong under `workspace/<area>/`. The repository does not prescribe product areas, issue keys, authors, customers, a fiscal calendar, or a design system. ## Core workflows ```text /prd <area> <feature> Draft or iterate on a PRD /work <area> <feature> Run the full product-spec workflow /customer-discovery <phase> ... Plan, capture, debrief, or synthesize interviews /product-research <type> <topic> Competitive, market, or user research /roadmap <area> Plan and maintain a roadmap /prototype <phase> <name> Create and validate a rapid prototype /prototype-ui <phase> <name> Prototype with a chosen product UI stack /design-spec <area> <feature> Create a designer-ready handoff /deck <type> ... Generate a PowerPoint deck /announce <area> <description> Draft an announcement and release note /investigate-and-file <source> Turn a bug report into a reviewed issue draft /publish <file> [space] Publish after an explicit confirmation /notion-hub <command> Search, audit, or sync a Notion workspace /help Show the complete command catalog ``` ## Workspace model Each product area uses the same convention: ```text workspace/<area>/ projects/<feature>/ prd.md spec-draft.md feasibility-draft.md decisions.md notes.md cursor-context.md discovery/ prototype/ design-spec.md design-handoff/ specs/ roadmaps/ research/ announcements/ ``` Use Git history for versioning. Keep active reasoning in `notes.md`, durable choices in `decisions.md`, drafts under `projects/`, and approved specifications under `specs/`. ## Optional integrations ### Jira and Confluence Copy the example configuration and replace every placeholder locally: ```bash cp config/atlassian.example.yaml config/atlassian.yaml ``` `config/atlassian.yaml` is ignored by Git. Configure the Jira/Confluence MCP connector supported by your AI client, then update the local project key and space defaults. Skills should draft changes first and require confirmation before creating or updating external content. ### Notion and Slack Connect the relevant MCP or app integration in your AI client. The skills discover the available tools at runtime and should fall back to local drafts when an integration is absent. Do not commit tokens, cookies, customer data, interview recordings, private URLs, or generated MCP configuration. ## Customization - `context/style-guide.md` controls the default product-writing principles. - `context/templates/` contains reusable artifact templates. - `.claude/skills/` contains the workflows exposed as slash commands. - `.cursorrules` provides the same repository context to Cursor. - `CLAUDE.md` contains concise operating rules for Claude Code. - `config/*.example.yaml` documents optional local integration settings. Keep organization-specific material in ignored local files or a private fork. Reusable skills and templates in the public repository should use placeholders such as `[Author]`, `[ISSUE-123]`, and `[Customer]`. ## Deck generation Deck workflows use `python-pptx`: ```bash python -m pip install -r requirements.txt python context/templates/deck_roadmap_template.py ``` The template uses a neutral theme. Replace the color constants and subtitle with your own brand before distributing a deck. ## Public-repository checklist Before publishing a fork: - Review `git status` and all tracked files for private product material. - Keep secrets and local connector configuration out of Git. - Replace organization-specific examples with neutral placeholders. - Check image and document metadata as well as visible content. - Publish from a clean, intentionally reviewed history when earlier commits contain private material. See [`PUBLIC_RELEASE.md`](PUBLIC_RELEASE.md) for the recommended fresh-history release process. After committing the reviewed sanitized tree, `scripts/export-public.sh` creates a new repository without copying the private commit history. `scripts/check-public-ready.sh` validates required files, skill metadata, ignored-file tracking, symlinks, Python syntax, secrets when Gitleaks is installed, and caller-provided forbidden patterns. ## Contributing See [`CONTRIBUTING.md`](CONTRIBUTING.md) for contribution and validation guidance and [`SECURITY.md`](SECURITY.md) for private vulnerability reporting. ## License pmClaude is available under the [MIT License](LICENSE).
