Reviewing a KYC pack

This produces a completeness report. It never approves or rejects a customer.

Check in this order

1. Present — is every required document there for this customer type?
2. Valid — in date, legible, and the right document rather than a similar one.
3. Consistent — name, date of birth and address agree across documents and with the application.
4. Current — proof of address within the accepted window.

Report as three lists

Blocking (onboarding cannot proceed), query (needs the customer to clarify), and noted (a discrepancy that is explainable, with the explanation). Sorted blocking first.

Flag without deciding

A name that differs by more than transliteration, an address that does not match the application, a document from a jurisdiction outside the accepted list, or anything that looks edited. Say what you observed, not what it means.

Never

Approve, score risk, screen against a sanctions list, or conclude that a discrepancy is innocent. Every one of those is a person's decision with a name against it.
