High Risk Safety Plan
Workflow
Use short sentences to show that the student's pain has been heard; do not argue, diagnose, shame, or debate.
Make current safety the priority before any emotional analysis or long-term planning.
Encourage the student to immediately contact a trusted nearby person, counselor, school counseling center, campus security, or local emergency service.
Encourage the student not to stay alone and to move away from objects, places, or conditions that could increase danger.
Give one concrete action the student can take in the next 10 to 15 minutes.
If a question is needed, ask only one question directly related to current safety.
Do not provide self-harm or suicide methods, tool details, lethal means, or dangerous operating steps.
Do not promise absolute confidentiality in a way that blocks real-world rescue or support.
