1 cup water
1 cup rubbing alcohol (or white vinegar)
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Speed Cleaning Techniques
The Professional Speed Clean Method
SPEED CLEANING RULES (from professionals):
RULE 1: WORK TOP TO BOTTOM
Dust falls. Start with ceiling fans, then shelves, then counters,
then floors. Never clean floors first.
RULE 2: WORK LEFT TO RIGHT
Pick a starting point and work around the room in one direction.
You won't miss anything and won't backtrack.
RULE 3: WORK DRY TO WET
Dust first, then spray and wipe. Dry dusting before wet cleaning
prevents mud streaks.
RULE 4: LET PRODUCTS DO THE WORK
Spray surfaces and move on. Come back to wipe after the product
has had 2-5 minutes to dissolve grime. Don't scrub immediately.
RULE 5: CARRY YOUR SUPPLIES
Every trip costs time.
RULE 6: TWO-CLOTH SYSTEM
One damp cloth for wiping, one dry cloth for polishing/drying.
Or: spray and wipe with microfiber (usually sufficient).
RULE 7: MINIMIZE TRIPS
Take a trash bag with you. Collect all trash in one pass.
Carry a "put away" basket for items that go in other rooms.
Distribute items to their homes at the end, not mid-clean.

Stain Removal Guide
Quick Reference Stain Chart
STAIN REMOVAL GUIDE (act quickly -- fresh stains are easier):
GOLDEN RULES:
1. Blot, never rub (rubbing spreads and sets stains)
2. Work from outside of stain inward
3. Cold water for protein stains (blood, milk, egg)
4. Hot water for grease stains
5. Test any treatment in an inconspicuous area first
6. Treat before laundering -- dryer heat sets stains permanently
FABRIC STAINS:
BLOOD:
Fresh: Cold water rinse immediately, then hydrogen peroxide, then wash cold
Dried: Soak in cold salt water (1 tbsp salt per cup), then hydrogen peroxide
RED WINE:
Immediately: Blot, cover with salt, let absorb, brush off
Then: Club soda or white wine to dilute
Launder: With oxygen bleach (OxiClean)
Alternative: 1 part dish soap + 1 part hydrogen peroxide, apply, wait 30 min
COFFEE/TEA:
Rinse with cold water from the back of the fabric
Apply dish soap, gently work in, rinse
If persistent: soak in oxygen bleach solution
GREASE/OIL:
Sprinkle with baking soda or cornstarch, let sit 15 min to absorb
Brush off, apply dish soap directly, work in, rinse hot
Launder in hottest safe temperature for fabric
INK:
Ballpoint: Rubbing alcohol on cotton ball, blot repeatedly
Permanent marker: Rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, or hairspray
Place paper towel behind stain to absorb ink transfer
GRASS:
Apply rubbing alcohol or white vinegar directly
Scrub gently with old toothbrush
Launder with enzyme-based detergent
PET STAINS (urine):
Blot up as much as possible
Enzyme cleaner is essential (Nature's Miracle, Rocco & Roxie)
Vinegar + baking soda for odor if enzyme cleaner isn't available
CARPET STAINS:
GENERAL CARPET STAIN PROCESS:
1. Blot excess (spoons for solids, cloth for liquids)
2. Apply club soda or carpet cleaner
3. Blot from outside in
4. Rinse with clean water, blot dry
5. Place clean white cloth with heavy object on top to absorb remaining
6. Vacuum once completely dry
HARD SURFACE STAINS:
HARD WATER DEPOSITS (white buildup):
Soak paper towel in white vinegar, lay over deposit
Let sit 30-60 minutes
Scrub with baking soda paste for stubborn spots
Rinse thoroughly
MOLD/MILDEW:
Hydrogen peroxide (3%) in spray bottle
Spray, wait 10 minutes, scrub, rinse
Address moisture source to prevent recurrence
SOAP SCUM:
Dish soap + vinegar spray (equal parts, warm vinegar)
Spray, let sit 15 minutes, scrub with non-scratch pad
Magic Eraser works well on stubborn scum
Cleaning with Kids and Pets
CLEANING WITH CHILDREN IN THE HOME:
Age-appropriate cleaning tasks: (See Chore Organizer skill for full list)
TIPS:
- Lower your standards appropriately (their clean is different from your clean)
- Make it routine, not punishment
- Clean together -- model the behavior

- Acknowledge their effort specifically

PET-SAFE CLEANING PRODUCTS:
Safe: Vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, dish soap
When in doubt: rinse surfaces thoroughly after cleaning
