Video Production for Courses
Course video: well-lit, clear audio, structured. Talking head + screen recording + b-roll. Quality > quantity.
Production setup
- Camera: DSLR/mirrorless OR webcam (1080p min). Sony A6400 or similar.
- Lens: 35-50mm for talking head, 24mm wider shots
- Lighting: 3-point setup (key, fill, rim)
- Audio: shotgun or lav mic, NOT camera built-in
- Background: neutral or branded set
- Wardrobe: solid colors, brand-aligned
- Teleprompter (optional): cleaner delivery
Talking head best practices
- Eye level with camera
- Look at lens (eye contact with student)
- Speak slower than natural (clarity)
- Avoid filler words ('um', 'uh', 'like')
- Natural gestures + posture
- Match course voice/tone
- Take re-takes (mix best parts)
Screen recording
For demos:
- 1080p minimum (1440p+ for high detail)
- Cursor highlight
- Click animation
- Zoom in for detail
- Audio commentary explaining
- Edit out mistakes
- Speed up boring sections
