Hazmat Quantity Limitations
Quantity limits per package + per vehicle vary by material + PG.
Per-package limits (column 9 HMT)
Materials have max per-package quantity by PG. PG I lowest, III highest. Example: Class 6.1 PG I has very small max-per-package.
Per-shipment / per-vehicle limits
Some materials have aggregate limits. Especially Class 1 explosives.
1,001-lb placarding rule
Aggregate placard-required material ≥ 1,001 lb (in placardable classes) → vehicle must placard. Below = no placard (with exceptions).
Limited Quantity exemptions
Limited quantities of certain materials (LTD QTY mark on package) have relaxed shipping rules.
