Brand strategy
Create a defensible strategic spine that downstream design and copy can use.
- Gather business model, audience, category alternatives, customer evidence, strengths, constraints, ambition, and existing brand equity.
- Separate market facts from founder preference and untested belief.
- Define audience tension, competitive frame, distinctive advantage, promise, reasons to believe, and tradeoffs.
- Write a concise positioning statement and message hierarchy.
- Translate strategy into personality, voice principles, proof themes, and naming/design implications without prescribing arbitrary aesthetics.
- Test distinctiveness, credibility, relevance, consistency, and stretch.
Avoid generic values, invented customer insight, competitor caricatures, and unsupported superlatives. A brand cannot credibly own every desirable trait.
