| description | Sponsorship and revenue: define tiers by delivered value, build the prospectus, sell against value not logos, and fulfill every promise (placement, leads, speaking slot) with a checklist and proof of delivery so sponsors renew. |
Sponsorship & Revenue
Sponsorship is a fulfilled promise, not a logo on a slide. Sell value, deliver value, prove value.
Tiering by value
| Tier | Sells (deliverables) | Fulfillment proof |
|---|
| Title / Platinum | Top placement, keynote/speaking slot, lead list, branded moment | Photos, lead CSV, recording, placement screenshots |
| Gold | Booth, session, logo on key surfaces, lead scan | Booth photo, scan export, surface audit |
| Silver / Community | Logo, mention, attendee list opt-ins | Surface audit, mention log |
The three steps
- Sell the value. A prospectus that states what each tier delivers, not just where the logo goes. Price against goal-relevant value (audience, leads, exposure).
- Deliver the value. A fulfillment checklist per sponsor — every promised deliverable, with an owner and a due date relative to the event.
- Prove the value. Capture evidence of each deliverable (leads, placement, attendance) — the renewal conversation runs on proof.
Anti-patterns
- Sponsorship sold as "a logo" with no defined deliverables.
- Promises sold and never fulfilled (the fastest way to lose a sponsor).
- No proof captured, so renewal is a guess.
The tier strategy originates with event-strategist; selling and fulfilling is here. Tie deliverables back to the budget's break-even in ../design-event-plan-and-budget/SKILL.md. Traverse the sponsorship-tier tree in ../../knowledge/event-management-decision-trees.md.
